I am not the same person I was five years ago, let alone a year ago! Have you ever had this thought? For good or bad we change. It is impossible to stay the same. What’s influencing you? What are you allowing into your life to shape and form you?

There are many things in our lives that affect our growth and our relationship with Christ. Some things sneak in without us giving them much thought. Some things are decided on and we embrace the decision. Growing in our relationship with Christ has to be one of those decisions. It’s a daily surrender. It’s telling God that I want more of Him in my life than I want my selfishness or complacency.

To grow in Christ means that we spend time with Him in prayer and learn from His Word. God’s Word WILL influence us! It is powerful! It is active and alive (Hebrews 4:12). Change comes as we lean into God and allow Him to restore us into the person He created us to be. We cannot do it on our own.

The Bible gives us a guide to check to see our progress. It is referred to as the fruit of the Spirit. God’s Spirit does these things in us as we grow in Him.

Galatians 5:22-23
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

Let us desire to be filled with God’s Spirit and live in such a way that others are drawn to Him!
